Tune in now to AFGE’s “Inside Government” for an update on the union’s contract negotiations with the Social Security Administration! The show, which originally aired on Friday, Jan. 14, is now available on demand.
AFGE National Council of SSA Field Operations Locals President Witold Skwierczynski discussed key elements of the contract negotiations including flextime, credit hour use and Telework. Skwierczynski also addressed the recent FLRA decision regarding employee leave policies at SSA Teleservice centers – a ruling that favored AFGE’s position.
AFGE Local 2798 member Joseph Riedel then discussed low pay for workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs’s Canteen Service, which provides reasonably priced goods to veterans and their families.
Lastly, Partnership for Public Service Vice President of Education and Outreach Tim McManus analyzed President Obama’s federal employee pay freeze and how it will impact the government’s ability to attract the best and brightest to public service.
