The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) mourns the recent passing of a beloved member of the AFGE family. Former Communications Director Magda Lynn Seymour lost her lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis on February 23rd. Madga was an integral part of the union’s expansion into video production and Internet communications. She served as the producer for the extremely popular AFGE video “Everyday Heroes.” Magda served as AFGE’s communications director from 1994 until 2002.
Prior to coming to AFGE, Magda worked in the communications office of the AFL-CIO. “Magda had a reputation throughout the labor movement as a dedicated professional and a genuine, caring, individual,” said AFGE President John Gage. “We join her family and friends throughout the country in mourning her loss.”

Statement from the American Federation of Teachers:
If you ever met Magda, even once, you would never forget her bright smile and larger-than-life presence. Even during some of her most difficult, painful days, her close friends could never recall her engaging in a single negative conversation. She was always upbeat and positive. Even near the end of her life, friends say she was at peace and happy.
